Engineering and Technology
At TD ICAV, the engineering team, which accounts for 26% of the company's workforce, is actively involved in all parts of our business operations. The Global Alternative Premia (GAP) department, the Global Asset Allocation (GAA) department, and the Global Stock Selection (GSS) department are the three departments that make up our research. The GAP team is responsible for conducting research and executing the portfolio related to the alternative risk premia multi-strategies that the company employs. It is the responsibility of GAP researchers, some of whom are world-renowned academicians in the field of style premia, to enhance and develop investment processes. Researchers accomplish this by discovering new factors and refining the instruments used to evaluate current elements. The GAA team primarily focuses on portfolio management and research, both of which are associated with macro trading methods. This category includes methods for selecting countries and currencies, strategies for arbitraging fixed income, strategies for commodities, and credit strategies. In addition to managing TD ICAV's hedge funds, the team is also responsible for managing the overlay component of the company's multiple foreign and global equities mandates. TD ICAV's strategies pertaining to individual stocks and equity-related securities are the responsibility of the GSS team, which is responsible for maintaining the portfolio and conducting research on these strategies. Portfolios that use GSS models include long-only, relaxed-constraint, and low-volatility portfolios for institutional equity mandates and mutual funds. Market-neutral long/short portfolios of TD ICAV hedge funds are another example of portfolios that make use of GSS models
Risk Management Team
The Risk Management team is responsible for monitoring and managing the risks associated with firm-managed investments, including those related to the market, credit, liquidity, model, and funding. The team conducts a wide range of primary and macro-driven research. Some examples of this research include stress testing, scenario analysis, and hedging approaches. The team works closely with the company's portfolio managers to develop a comprehensive risk management strategy. This strategy encompasses macro, equity, credit, and derivatives markets.
Global Trading Strategies Team
The Global Trading Strategies team is tasked with executing TD ICAV's investment strategies in an effective manner. Traders, trading assistants, developers of trading infrastructure and algorithms, and academics studying market microstructure and short-term signals comprise the team. The team is responsible for developing and designing algorithmic trading techniques across a wide range of asset classes from a global perspective. The team conducts a transaction cost study of the multiple marketplaces in which TD ICAV trades to feed the transaction cost forecasting models. Through a collaborative effort with Portfolio Management, Research, Operations, Legal, and Credit, the Trading Group aims to create and maintain a trade execution platform that is both scalable and successful for all of the portfolios that TD ICAV administers.
